A Guide to FlightRadar24

Flightradar24 is a program where you can view every single plane that is moving on earth. You can look at specific departures and landings from airports, routes, specific planes and where they are going, and most tracked flights.

Here is an example of all the planes over North America at 3 pm:

You can click on each plane and find out specific information about the flight. You can see what model the airplane is, what airline it is from, and the altitude, speed, and registration number of the plane. You can also find a picture of the plane, what airport the flight took off from and what airport it is landing at, and the route that the flight will take. Different icons represent different models, as not all planes are the same size or shape.

Above is the most tracked flight right now. You can see a picture of a plane, and along with the other information listed above, the time, the distance from takeoff, and the distance until landing.

On the right side of the page, you can see the most tracked flights and the airports with the most traffic/delays in real time.

The different colours represent the altitude of the plane. The colour goes from white to purple, purple being the cruising altitude, and white being on the ground. In the search bar, you can look up a flight by the route, an airport, and a live flight by a certain airline. For each specific airport, you can find out information such as departures, arrivals, runway lengths, and some reviews about the airport.

By searching a flight by route, you can look at a week’s history of that certain route, such as how long each flight took, if any were delayed that week, and if there are multiple flights for that route.

Overall, FlightRadar24 is a very useful tool for many situations, such as tracking your family or friends on a flight, watching live air traffic, or finding information about a plane you saw.
